US sets 500% duty on Russian goods but waives it in the same order
A US executive order of October 16 formally set duty increases of 500% on Russian goods and 100% for the largest buyers of Russian oil and gas, but the same order waives their application under section 115 of the Graham Act. For importers of Russian goods into the US and exporters from oil-buying countries the 500% and 100% rates are not applied for now, and the waiver has no end date until the President or Secretary of State decides otherwise. - 12.10.2026 Regulation #USA #Russia #Import #Export #Sanctions

EU top court raises evidence bar for freezing Russia-linked assets
The EU Court of Justice ruled on 3 September 2026 that a company's assets cannot be frozen merely because of Russian ownership or the autocratic nature of Russia's political system: control by a sanctioned person must be proven with objective evidence. EU companies with Russian-linked shareholders, and the banks screening them, will now need to document actual control - voting rights, appointments, cash flows - rather than rely on ownership charts alone. - 03.09.2026 Regulation #USA #China #EU #Export #Import #Duties #Sanctions

US adds 43 firms to UFLPA Entity List, import ban starts August 3
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security added 43 Chinese companies to the UFLPA Entity List on July 31, 2026. DHS called it the largest single expansion of the list in its history, bringing the total to 187 entities. Starting August 3, 2026, CBP applies a rebuttable presumption of forced labor to goods from these firms, so importers sourcing aluminum, apparel, copper, cotton or tomato products linked to these suppliers need to audit their supply chains and prepare evidence right away.
